Caffeine addiction.....swallow a "no-doz" when the headaches get bad. Weaning yourself is the only way you'll get away from the caffeine, IMO. Seperate the two items, pop and caffeine, and you can deal with it better.

Re: Random Thoughts
I shouldn't watch Diners Drive-ins and Dives. That show starves me to death.

Re: Random Thoughts
Watch Bizzare Foods instead. It's an appetite supressant.

Bizarre Foods makes me crave some sardines dipped in 20 year old bacon grease.

Only benefit they really have are for diabetics. My mom is a nurse, and can contest for this as well (also diabetic).
But there have been many, many, many studies done on diet vs regular. Diet soda drinkers.. don't lose as much weight as people on regular sodas. But if you're drinking purely for less sugar, etc.. diet is the way to go.. but if you're wanting to cut pounds, and still have soda's.. one/two a day is tops, and regular will help lose more.. caffeine in regular is the main thing..
But if you want to trick your body into thinking that you've eaten, and cut weight.. drink a 32 ounce gatorade.. it has enough carbs in it to convince your body you've eaten a good size meal..
but back to subject.. regular soda is better than diet soda.. for your body, etc.. unless you're diabetic.. </div></div>
I'm gonna have to call BS on this one man. No way is regular soda better for losing weight than diet soda. It just isn't so, the amount of caffeine in regular soda is not that much different than diet, and surely not enough to help you burn off the extra 120 or so odd calories per serving.

Re: Random Thoughts
There is something(can't remember the name) in diet drinks that does something negative to your body that regular drinks don't. I heard it a couple years ago.
Who would have thought.

Thanks, and also
5. Drinking Diet Coke while eating Mentos candies can create a mildly explosive reaction in your body.
Fact! Luckily, you can't consume enough to cause a major internal eruption. Yet some very sticky people have had a wild and crazy time creating geysers that shoot over 10 feet high, including a mini-version of the Las Vegas Bellagio fountains that involved hundreds of candies and 200 liters of Diet Coke (we're not kidding). How does it work? Certain types of Mentos have a microscopically rough surface that, when combined with the carbon dioxide in Diet Coke (or any soda), seems to create an insane number of bubbles. Pressure builds FAST and boom! Watch it happen.

Have to agree there.
The blood sugar spike that comes from drinking 65 grams of carboydrates in the form of sugar ( as is the case in a 20 oz coke) will spike a person's insulin production. The liver turns insulin into triglycerides. Triglycerides can become fat in the body.
65 grams is about half of the carbohydrates an average person needs to consume in a day (the majority of which should be complex carbs), and when it's coming from a soda it's in the form of a simple carb. Simple carbs are rapidly absorbed in the body - excess not used is converted and stored as fat.
Sugar crashes that come after consuming simple carbs make folks crave more simple sugars to get that level back up to its high, and the cycle repeats.
Regulating blood sugar is important in weight loss, weight maintenance, disease prevention (i.e. Type II diabetes), and overall well being.
So in a nutshell, water is the way to go.
